St Michael's Church of England Primary School, Sandhurst - welcome to our website

About Our School......

St Michael's is the oldest school in Sandhurst . It was built in 1862, but when the new term started in September 1863, the log book shows that there were several children missing because they were still at work. The school day was regularly disrupted by absence for reaping and potato picking. A school inspection in 1868 found the writing to be excellent, the reading fair and the discipline perfect, but the Scripture knowledge to be a failure in all classes. We have come a long way since then!

We are a Church of England Voluntary Aided primary school and part of the Diocese of Oxford. St Michael's has seven classes, teaching children with an age range of 4 - 11 years. There is one class for each year group and class sizes are 30 in the Infants and up to 33 in the Juniors. The school is in an attractive location in Sandhurst and we are able to make good use of the surrounding woods and lake. We have a school field a short distance away, where the children have PE lessons, matches and Sports Day.
